Turning off the server Every time you turn off the server, shut down the operating system first. You may lose data if you do not follow the proper procedure. Important For other operating systems, such as Windows 2000 or Novell Netware, refer to the appropriate operating system software manual for instructions. To turn off the server in Windows NT: 1 Click Start, then select Shut down the computer?, then Shut Down. 2 Click OK. The operating system shuts down. If you see a message saying It is now safe to turn off your computer, turn off the server by pressing the power button. 3 Turn off the monitor and peripherals. Warning When you turn off the server by pressing the power button, some electric current still flows through it.
