Troubleshooting the battery installation If you have problems after installing the new battery, try each of the items listed below: s Turn off the server and make sure that all exterior cables are attached and secured to the correct connectors. s Make sure that all power switches are on. If the server is plugged into a power strip, surge protector, or UPS, make sure it is turned on also. s Enter the BIOS Setup utility and compare the settings on the screen with your notes or the system hardware manuals. Correct any discrepancies. s Turn off the server, remove the cover, and make sure that all cables inside the case are attached securely. Also, make sure that the colored cable edges are aligned correctly and that the connectors did not miss any pins. Disconnect and reconnect the cables. Close the case (see "Closing the case" on page 27), reconnect the modem and power cords, then turn on the server. s Turn off the server, remove the cover and, if you have the proper test equipment, make sure that the new battery has power. (Although unlikely, your new battery may be defective.) Replacing and Adding System Components
Troubleshooting the battery installation
If you have problems after installing the new battery, try each of the items
listed below:
Turn off the server and make sure that all exterior cables are attached
and secured to the correct connectors.
Make sure that all power switches are on. If the server is plugged into a
power strip, surge protector, or UPS, make sure it is turned on also.
Enter the BIOS Setup utility and compare the settings on the screen with
your notes or the system hardware manuals. Correct any discrepancies.
Turn off the server, remove the cover, and make sure that all cables inside
the case are attached securely. Also, make sure that the colored cable edges
are aligned correctly and that the connectors did not miss any pins.
Disconnect and reconnect the cables. Close the case (see
Closing the
case
on page 27), reconnect the modem and power cords, then turn on
the server.
