Hard drive NOTE: The hard drive spare part kit does not include the hard drive bracket, hard drive connector cable, or screws. Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer. 3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer. 4. Remove the bottom cover (see Bottom cover on page 23). 5. Remove the rear cover (see Rear cover on page 26). Remove the hard drive: 1. Disconnect the battery cable from the system board. 2. Disconnect the hard drive connector cable (1) from the system board. 3. Loosen the two Phillips PM2.5×6.5 screws (2) that secure the hard drive to the computer. Component replacement procedures 27

Before removing the hard drive, follow these steps:
1.
Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the

2.
Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.
3.
Disconnect all external devices from the computer.
4.
Remove the bottom cover (see

5.
Remove the rear cover (see

26
).
Remove the hard drive:
1.
Disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
2.
Disconnect the hard drive connector cable
(1)
from the system board.
3.
Loosen the two Phillips PM2.5×6.5 screws
(2)
that secure the hard drive to the computer.
