Speaker assembly Description Speaker assembly Spare part number 608027-001 Before removing the speaker assembly, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 41). 5. Remove the following components: a. Optical drive (see Optical drive on page 54) b. Keyboard (see Keyboard on page 59) c. Top cover (see Top cover on page 55) Remove the speaker assembly: 1. Position the computer upright with the front toward you. 2. Remove the tape that secures the cable to the system board (1). 3. Disconnect the speaker cable from the system board (2). 4. Remove the tape that secures the cable to the system board (3). 5. Remove the Phillips PM2.5×5.0 screw (4) that secures the speaker assembly to the base enclosure. 6. Lift the left speaker (5) straight up to remove it from the base enclosure. Component replacement procedures 63

Before removing the speaker assembly, follow these steps:
1.
Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3.
Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet
and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4.
Remove the battery (see

).
5.
Remove the following components:
a.
Optical drive (see

)
b.
Keyboard (see

)
c.
Top cover (see
Top cover
on page

Remove the speaker assembly:
1.
Position the computer upright with the front toward you.
2.
Remove the tape that secures the cable to the system board
(1)

3.
Disconnect the speaker cable from the system board
(2)

4.
Remove the tape that secures the cable to the system board
(3)
.
5.
Remove the Phillips PM2.5×5.0 screw
(4)
that secures the speaker assembly to the base
enclosure.
6.
Lift the left speaker
(5)
straight up to remove it from the base enclosure.
