Chapter 10 Configuring the HP Netserver NOTE You typically would not need to use this utility unless you are an experienced administrator or requested to do so by a support provider. During the boot process the message "SCSI BIOS successfully loaded" will appear if there are devices connected to the SCSI controller. The SCSI controller can provide the bus, device, and channel configurations when active on screen. To access the Symbios SCSI Configuration Utility, refer to the following instructions. 1. Reboot the HP Netserver. If you are already in the boot process, you should see the following message appear. Press to start Symbios Configuration Utility... 2. Press keys to enter the utility. 3. Use the arrow keys to move the cursor, press Enter to select an option, and press Esc to exit. 4. To change adapter settings: a. Select an adapter from the list in the main menu. b. Select Adapter Setup. This option configures the SCSI ID setting and other advanced adapter settings. 5. To format a hard disk or change hard disk parameters: a. Select an adapter from the list in the main menu. b. Select Device Selections. c. Select the hard disk to format. d. Select Format menu option. CAUTION Low-level formatting of a SCSI disk drive will destroy all of its data. 94

NOTE
You typically would not need to use this utility unless you are
an experienced administrator or requested to do so by a support
provider.
During the boot process the message "SCSI BIOS successfully loaded" will appear
if there are devices connected to the SCSI controller. The SCSI controller can
provide the bus, device, and channel configurations when active on screen.
To access the Symbios SCSI Configuration Utility, refer to the following
instructions.
1. Reboot the HP Netserver.
If you are already in the boot process, you should see the following
message appear.
Press <Ctrl C> to start Symbios Configuration
Utility...
2. Press <Ctrl + C> keys to enter the utility.
3. Use the arrow keys to move the cursor, press
Enter
to select an option, and
press
Esc
to exit.
4. To change adapter settings:
a.
Select an adapter from the list in the main menu.
b. Select Adapter Setup.
This option configures the SCSI ID setting and other advanced adapter
settings.
5.
To format a hard disk or change hard disk parameters:
a.
Select an adapter from the list in the main menu.
b. Select Device Selections.
c. Select the hard disk to format.
d. Select
Format
menu option.
CAUTION
Low-level formatting of a SCSI disk drive will destroy all of
its data.
