Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 39). 5. Remove the memory module/wireless module compartment cover (see WLAN module on page 41). Remove the hard drive: 1. Loosen the captive screw (1) that secures the hard drive cover to the computer. 2. Remove the hard drive cover (2). The hard drive cover is available in the Plastics Kit, spare part numbers 671170-001 (for use only with Beats Edition computer models) and 669075-001 (for use only with non-Beats Edition computer models). 3. Remove the two Phillips PM2.5×6.6 screws (1) and the Phillips PM2.5×4.5 screw (2) that secure the hard drive to the computer. 4. Disconnect the hard drive cable (3) from the system board. Before removing the hard drive, follow these steps:
1.
Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn
the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3.
Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet
and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4.
Remove the battery (see
Battery
on page
39
).
5.
Remove the memory module/wireless module compartment cover (see
WLAN module
on page
41
).
Remove the hard drive:
1.
Loosen the captive screw
(1)
that secures the hard drive cover to the computer.
2.
Remove the hard drive cover
