Fingerprint reader board Description Fingerprint reader board (includes bracket, does not include cable) NOTE: The fingerprint reader board cable is included in the Cable Kit, spare part number 669062-001. Spare part number 669064-001 Before removing the fingerprint reader board, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 39), and then remove the following components: a. Optical drive (see Optical drive on page 46) b. Hard drive (see Hard drive on page 48) c. Keyboard (see Keyboard on page 57) d. Top cover (see Top cover on page 60) Remove the fingerprint reader board: 1. Release the fingerprint reader board cable from the top cover. (The fingerprint reader board cable is attached to the top cover with double-sided tape.) 2. Turn the top cover upside down, with the front toward you. 3. Release the plastic tab (1) to access the fingerprint reader board cable. Component replacement procedures 65

Before removing the fingerprint reader board, follow these steps:
1.
Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn
the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3.
Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet
and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.

Remove the fingerprint reader board:
1.
Release the fingerprint reader board cable from the top cover. (The fingerprint reader board cable
is attached to the top cover with double-sided tape.)
2.
Turn the top cover upside down, with the front toward you.
3.
Release the plastic tab

to access the fingerprint reader board cable.
