Battery Packs Charging a Battery Pack The battery pack automatically charges when the notebook is connected to external power through an AC adapter. The battery pack charges whether the notebook is powered off or in use, but it charges faster when the notebook is powered off. When the notebook is in use, charging will take longer, depending on system activity. The battery light on the notebook stays on while the battery pack is charging.
