execute regular schedules, especially if you have an enterprise policy to have Tivoli Storage Manager machines backed up at some point in the day. If you rely on manual startup, this can be easily forgotten if the owner of the client system has to reboot it for some reason, resulting in a missed backup schedule. UNIX/Linux If you want to start the client scheduler when the system reboots, set the PASSWORDACCESS option parameter to GENERATE in your client system options file, and include the following command in the /etc/inittab (for AIX) file: tsm:2345:once:/usr/bin/dsmc schedule >/dev/console 2>&1 #Start Scheduler The scheduler starts the next time the system is rebooted. On other UNIX variants enter a similar command in the startup files. Windows We showed how to set up the scheduler service for automatic start in 4.5.3, "Client scheduler configuration" on page 149.
