Whenever the system detects that the database needs extra space, it triggers the expansion, and writes messages to the activity log, as shown in the query actlog command in Example 5-9. The expansionprefix parameter specifies the directory where the volumes will be created. Set MAXIMUMSIZE to zero or omit the parameter to disable checking for maximum size and allow the recovery log to grow to the system limit.
