Performing a self-test or extended self-test You can perform a self-test or an extended self-test on the scanner. The self-test is the same test performed when the scanner is powered-up; the extended self-test is a more thorough test. To perform a self-test or extended self-test: 1. Select the Diagnostics Settings menu icon. 2. Use the right or left arrow to navigate to the Diagnostics function. 3. Use the down arrow to select Run self-test or Run extended selftest. Running in count-only mode 4. Select Return. The scanner will run the self-test and report the results on the display. You may want to count the number of documents entering the scanner without actually scanning. To run in count-only mode: 1. Select the Diagnostics Settings menu icon. 2. Use the right or left arrow to navigate to the Diagnostics function. 3. Use the down arrow to select Run count only. 4. Place the documents in the elevator tray. 5. Select Return. The message Counting Pages will be displayed. 6. Press Start/Resume . The page count will be displayed. 3-6 A-61169 July 2003
