Appendix 1. Installation of the machine and steps to be performed before operation 1. Installation of the machine and steps to be performed before operation The service engineer should first perform the following steps before setting the machine for the Enhanced Security Mode. 1.1 Unpacking and setting up the machine • Be sure to correctly follow the procedures in order as explained in this Manual. If you do not follow the procedure in order, the image trouble may occur. • If any part requires replacement due to a machine trouble, perform the relevant replacement procedure appropriately. 1.1.1 Installation and setup of the machine (1) Make sure that the machine package has not been previously unpacked. (2) Take the main body and the paper feed cabinet (or the desk) out from its packag- ing. • Remove the protective tape and the protective materials. (3) Install the toner cartridge. 1. Shake the toner cartridge up and down and left to right 5 to 10 times respectively. 2. Push the toner cartridge all the way in. (4) Install each option by referring to the "Installation procedures" of correspond- ing installation manual. For the procedure to install the fax kit, see P.3. Check the fax kit • Fax Kit FK-514 (A883) (5) Mount the fixing plate onto the storage board. • Make sure that the tip of the fixing screw is broken. (6) Install the supplied parts. • Stylus pen • Connector cover • Duct cover • User's guide holder (7) Affix the labels. (8) Connect the network cable. (9) Plug the power cord into the power outlet. (10) Turn ON the main power switch. (11) Perform No-Image Area Erase Check settings. 1. Tap [Service Mode] → [Machine] → [Non-Image Area Erase Check], and perform NonImage Area Erase Check settings. 2. Make sure that "Result" is "OK". If "Result" is "NG1" or "NG2", review the place and direction of installation, or take measures to block the light source (by covering it, etc.), then perform installation checking again. (12) Make installation settings and adjustments for each option. See the "Configuration procedures" of the installation manual for each option. (13) Make the necessary settings. • Reading the Custom Function Pattern Selection file ([Service Mode] → [System 2] → [Custom Pattern] → [Import] → select XXX_v1.0_ISO15408.cpd → [Start]) • Date & Time Setting/Time Zone Setting ([Service Mode] → [Date & Time Setting/Time Zone Setting screen (To display the Date & Time Setting/Time Zone Setting screen, press Stop → 3 on the control panel)]) • Serial number input ([Service Mode] → [System 1] → [Serial Number]) • Unit change ([Service Mode] → [System 2] → [Unit Change]) 2

Installation of the machine and steps to be performed
before operation
The service engineer should first perform the following steps before setting the machine for
the Enhanced Security Mode.

Unpacking and setting up the machine
Be sure to correctly follow the procedures in order as explained in this Manual. If
you do not follow the procedure in order, the image trouble may occur.
If any part requires replacement due to a machine trouble, perform the relevant
replacement procedure appropriately.

Installation and setup of the machine
(1)
Make sure that the machine package has not been previously unpacked.
(2)
Take the main body and the paper feed cabinet (or the desk) out from its packag-
ing.
Remove the protective tape and the protective materials.

Install the toner cartridge.

Push the toner cartridge all the way in.

Install each option by referring to the “Installation procedures” of correspond-
ing installation manual.
