2.14 Obtaining job log 2 2.14 Obtaining job log When a log-on to the administrator mode becomes successful, the machine enables acquisition and distribution of the job log and the job log to be deleted. The job log (audit log) is a record of information on, for example, operations performed in the machine and a job history. The log files can be saved up to 40MB. Setting the job log function (audit log) allows an illegal act or inadequate operation performed on the machine to be traced. The following two methods can be used to acquire the job log. How to acquire Manual distribution Automatic distribution Description Manually acquires a job log file. The job log can be downloaded from the Web Connection and browsed. The machine serves as the WebDAV client to allow a job log file to be distributed directly to the audit log server (WebDAV server). Related setting (for the administrator) Job log obtains time/date information. So, set an accurate time/date in the machine in advance. For more details on the time/date setting, see page 2-60. Log Type [Accounting Log] [Counting Log] [Audit Log] Description Enables you to obtain information relevant to paper consumption for each user. Enables you to obtain information about paper consumption and the reduction rate of paper used for printing. Enables you to obtain user operation or job history. • It is recommended that audit log be backed up at regular intervals. • The machine is capable of saving up to about 20,000 records of audit log. The maximum number of days the records can be saved depends on the operating condition of the machine. • For example, identify the output volume of the audit log by operating the machine for several days and estimate adequate frequency of the backup operation. Audit log is concerned mainly with the following events. bution of the job log and the job log to be deleted. The job log (audit log) is a record of information on, for
example, operations performed in the machine and a job history. The log files can be saved up to 40MB.
Setting the job log function (audit log) allows an illegal act or inadequate operation performed on the machine
to be traced.
The following two methods can be used to acquire the job log.
