Replacing the heat sink and fan assembly CAUTION: The heat sink, microprocessor and memory module might be very hot. Turn off the computer and wait three to five minutes to let the computer cool before opening the computer cover. To replace the heat sink and fan assembly: 1. Remove the computer cover. See "Removing the computer cover" on page 86. 2. Lay the computer on its side for easier access to the system board. 3. Locate the heat sink and fan assembly. See "Identifying parts on the system board" on page 85. 4. Disconnect the heat sink and fan assembly cable from the microprocessor fan connector on the system board. 5. Rotate the four screws 1 one by one in the direction indicated by the arrows on the screw head, so that the heat sink and fan assembly can be lifted out from the system board. Chapter 8.
