Installing or replacing a memory module Attention Do not open your computer or attempt any repair before reading and understanding the "Important safety information" in the Lenovo 3000 Safety and Warranty Guide that came with your computer. Your computer has two slots for installing or replacing DDR2 DIMMs (double data rate 2 dual inline memory modules) that provide up to a maximum of 4.0 GB of system memory. When installing memory modules, use the following guidelines: v Use 1.8 V, 240-pin DDR2 SDRAM. v Use 1 GB or 2 GB memory modules in any combination up to 4 GB. To install or replace a memory module: 1. Removing the computer cover. See "Removing the computer cover" on page 86. 2. Lay the computer on its side. 3. Locate the memory slots.
