Data Bits Purpose: To specify the number of data bits that are sent in each transmission frame. Values: 7 8* See also: Technical Reference Honor DSR Purpose: To determine whether the printer uses the Data Set Ready (DSR) signal. DSR is one of the handshaking signals for most serial interface cables. Values: Off* All data received by the serial port is treated as valid data. On Only data received while the DSR signal is high is treated as valid. The serial interface uses DSR to distinguish data sent by the computer from data created by electrical noise in the serial cable. This electrical noise can cause stray characters to print. Select On to prevent stray characters from printing. Job Buffering Purpose: To specify whether the printer temporarily stores jobs on the hard disk before printing. Values: Off* On Auto Does not buffer print jobs to the hard disk. Buffers print jobs to the hard disk. Buffers print jobs only if the printer is busy processing data from another input port. Note: Changing the Job Buffering menu item automatically resets the printer. 247
