Chapter 1 Introduction This chapter describes some of the key features of the NETGEAR RangeMax NEXT Wireless-N Access Point. It also includes the minimum prerequisites for installation ("System Requirements" on page 1-2.), package contents ("What's in the Box" on page 1-3) and a description of the front and back panels of the WN802T ("Front Panel of the RangeMax NEXT" on page 1-3). About the RangeMax NEXT Wireless-N Access Point The WN802T extends your home or small business network by providing high-speed wireless access of up to 300 Mbps1, with Gigabit wired support at the back end. RangeMax NEXT WN802T is compliant with draft 802.11n. This next generation wireless standard utilizes advanced MIMO (Multi-In, Multi-Out) technology, which delivers incredible speed and range, and for the first time provides wireless interoperability at the highest speeds with other products such as Top Dog™. A RangeMax NEXT wireless network creates and maintains stable connections and enough bandwidth to surf the Internet, check email, make Internet phone calls, share files and stream highdefinition videos, simultaneously, at any distance or location in the home or office. RangeMax NEXT is compatible with all legacy b and g wireless products. Preset internal antenna and draft 11n-True-Test high-performance testing and tuning provides maximum performance and high-quality streaming every time. Key Features The RangeMax NEXT is easy-to-use and provides the following features: • RangeMax™ Multi-In, Multi-Out (MIMO) technology • Complies with draft 802.11n2, and is backwards compatible with 802.11b/g. 1. Maximum wireless signal derived from IEEE standard 802.11 specification. Actual data throughput will vary. Network conditions and environmental factors, including volume of network traffic, building materials and construction and network overhead, lower actual data throughput rate. 2.
