Troubleshooting (Continued) Problem Sound transmitted from the speakers is reversed. There is lack of bass sound or the instrument position is obscure. Severe hum or noise is heard. Cause The speakers are not connected correctly. The 0/0 connection of the speaker is reversed. The connecting cords are not shielded type. A transformer, motor, TV or fluorescent light affects the connecting cords. Surround settings cannot be adjusted. The audio components are too close to a TV set. The unit is not grounded. The connections are loose. The plugs and jacks are dirty. The unit is in the wrong mode. Surround circuit is turned off. Tone adjustment is impossible. The unit is in the wrong mode. Tone circuit is turned off. The remote will not operate. The receiver or components cannot be operated using the remote. The remote signal cannot be programmed. The batteries are low. The remote head is not pointed toward the unit's front. There is an object between the remote and the receiver. The FUNCTION mode of the remote is not same as that of the receiver. There is noise interference. The LEARN indicator of the remote goes off after flashing. The batteries are low. The internal memory capacity is full. Solution Connect the right speaker to the R SPEAKER terminals and the left speaker to the L SPEAKER terminals. Connect the speaker with the correct phase. Use shielded type cords. Place the connecting cords in a location away from a transformer or motor, and at least 10 feet (3 meters) from a TV set or a fluorescent light. If both are used at the same time, separate the TV from the audio components. Connect a ground wire to the antenna ground terminal. Make secure connections. Wipe the plugs and jacks with a cloth lightly dampened with alcohol. Press DPC MODE so that the SUR indicator lights up. Set the SOUND FIELD ON/OFF button to ON and select an appropriate sound field with SOUND FIELD MODE. Press DPC MODE so that the TONE indicator lights up. Set the SOUND FIELD ON/OFF button to ON and select an appropriate sound field with SOUND FIELD MODE. Replace the batteries with new ones. Point the remote head toward the receiver. Remove the object. At first, select the same FUNCTION mode with that of the receiver. Place both remotes apart from the source of noise. Replace the batteries with new ones. Clear all the signals and program again.
