Troubleshooting Problem The cassette compartment lid cannot be closed. Operation buttons do not function. The unit does not operate. The tape does not move. Cannot record. The sound picked up is distorted. Noise occurs during recording. Cause Power source is disconnected from the unit while "L On" or "LINL ORB" is flashing in the display. The Hold function is on. The batteries are exhausted and b T TEP '3 appears. The AC power adaptor is connected incorrectly. The safety system is activated due to moisture condensation (" y E 111 " appears). Other causes. II PAUSE button is activated (the II indicator appears). The tape is wound completely to the end. The Hold function is on. The record-protect shutter on the cassette is open. Incorrect operation of the connected equipment. SCMS signal was detected. The sound source is too loud when using the microphone. The MIC/LINE IN switch is not set. The recording level is too loud. When monitoring the recording sound with headphones or external speakers, they are placed too close to the microphone. Solution Connect the power source and close the lid. Cancel the Hold function. Replace both batteries with new ones or charge the rechargeable batteries. Connect the AC power adaptor correctly. Leave the unit for a while and restart the unit by turning on the power. Disconnect the power source from the unit, then connect it again. Press II PAUSE or ► PLAY button to release pause mode. (See pages 17 and 19.) • Press the Nall 44 button to rewind the tape. • Replace the cassette. Cancel the Hold function. Close the shutter on the cassette. (See page H.) See "Connecting with Other Equipment for Recording" on page 22 or refer to the Operating Instructions manual of the connected equipment. Record via the analog connection. (See page 22.) • Set MIC ATT switch to 20dB. • Move the microphone away from the sound source. Set the sound source and the connections. Adjust the recording level (manual recording) (page 24).
