MY BOOK LIVE USER MANUAL Media Storage You can access and store media content on My Book Live drive by means of network shares. Shares, similar to folders or directories, are areas set up to organize media and access them from your network. Shares can be shared with everyone (public) or with selected users on your network (private). The drive comes pre-configured with the Public network share, which contains the following folders for media storage:  Shared Music-Stores music files you want to share with other users  Shared Pictures-Stores image files you want to share with other users  Shared Videos-Stores video files you want to share with other users Important: Do not delete or change the name of the Shared Pictures folder, which is required by the WD Photos application. Note: Media located outside of the My Book LIve device folders will also be indexed and available through the DLNA player. If you do not want this media available, place the media in a separate share, then turn off the DLNA indexing for that share. See "Creating a New Share" on page 80. Adding Media Content to the Folders 1. Open Windows Explorer or Mac Finder: 2. Copy your music files to the Shared Music folder. 3. Media Storage
You can access and store media content on My Book Live drive by means of
network shares. Shares, similar to folders or directories, are areas set up to organize
media and access them from your network. Shares can be shared with everyone
(public) or with selected users on your network (private).
The drive comes pre-configured with the Public network share, which contains the
following folders for media storage:
Shared Music
—Stores music files you want to share with other users
Shared Pictures
—Stores image files you want to share with other users
Shared Videos
—Stores video files you want to share with other users
Note: Media located outside of the My Book LIve device folders will also be indexed
and available through the DLNA player. If you do not want this media
available, place the media in a separate share, then turn off the DLNA
indexing for that share. See “Creating a New Share” on page 80.
Adding Media Content to the Folders
1.
Open Windows Explorer or Mac Finder:

Copy your music files to the Shared Music folder.
3.
Follow the same process to place your videos and pictures into their respective
Pictures and Video folders.
Important:
Do not delete or change the name of the Shared Pictures folder, which is
required by the WD Photos application.
