MY BOOK LIVE USER MANUAL Checking the Front Panel LED The following table describes the front panel tricolor (red/green/blue) LED behavior. State Power Off Power On Boot Attention Color None Blue Appearance Solid Yellow Solid Yellow Blink Ready Activity Green Green Solid Blink Fault/action required Red Solid Standby Software/firmware update Blue Solid White (may look somewhat violet) Solid State Description Displays if the drive is unplugged. Displays when you first apply power to the unit. Drive has begun loading the Operating System (OS). The following circumstances trigger this state: • Disk thermal warning threshold exceeded (under or over temp) • Network cable not inserted The OS is now ready. Unit is performing read or write commands to/from the Hard Drive Disk (HDD). The following faults trigger this state: • Disk SMART failure • Data Volume does not exist • System Volume does not exist • System thermal shutdown (75 C) • Unsupported drive detected Unit is in HDD standby mode. Firmware is currently being updated. Checking Back Panel (Network) LEDs The following table describes the network state and activity LEDs. Note: Looking at the port, with the LEDs on the bottom, the LED on the top is the Activity LED, and the one on the bottom is the Link LED. State Link down LED Link Link up - 100 Mbps Link Appearance Off Yellow State Description Cable or drive is not plugged in, or other end of link is not operational. Cable is plugged in, and both ends of the link have successfully established communications. Network negotiated at 100 Mbps. CONNECTING THE DRIVE AND GETTING STARTED - 12
