PREPARATION Connecting audio components Connect the audio components as follows. ■ Connecting a CD player and a CD recorder/MD recorder Notes • When you connect your CD player via analog and digital connection, priority is given to the signal input at the DIGITAL INPUT jack. • To make a digital connection to a component other than the default component assigned to each DIGITAL INPUT jack, select the corresponding setting in "INPUT ASSIGNMENT" (see page 71). If you set "INPUT CH" to "8ch" in "MULTI CH SET" (see page 72), you can use the input jacks assigned as "FRONT" in "MULTI CH SET" (see page 72) together with the MULTI CH INPUT jacks to input 8-channel signals. Connect the output jacks on your multi-format player or external decoder to the MULTI CH INPUT jacks. Be sure to match the left and right outputs to the left and right input jacks for the front and surround channels. Notes • When you select the component connected to the MULTI CH INPUT jacks as the input source (see page 36), this unit automatically turns off the digital sound field processor, and you cannot select sound field programs. • This unit does not redirect signals input at the MULTI CH INPUT jacks to accommodate for missing speakers. We recommend that you connect at least a 5.1-channel speaker system before using this feature.
