CHAPTER 13 DHCP Server 13.1 Overview DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, RFC 2131 and RFC 2132) allows individual clients to obtain TCP/IP configuration at start-up from a server. You can configure the Router's LAN as a DHCP server or disable it. When configured as a server, the Router provides the TCP/IP configuration for the clients. If DHCP service is disabled, you must have another DHCP server on your LAN, or else the computer must be manually configured. 13.2 What You Can Do • Use the General (Section 13.3 on page 113) screen to enable the DHCP server. • Use the Advanced (Section 13.4 on page 114) screen to assign IP addresses on the LAN to specific individual computers based on their MAC Addresses. 13.3 General Screen Use this screen to enable the DHCP server. Click Network > DHCP Server. The following screen displays. Figure 80 Network > DHCP Server > General The following table describes the labels in this screen.
