CHAPTER 16 Static Route 16.1 Overview This chapter shows you how to configure static routes for your Router. Each remote node specifies only the network to which the gateway is directly connected, and the Router has no knowledge of the networks beyond. For instance, the Router knows about network N2 in the following figure through remote node Router 1. However, the Router is unable to route a packet to network N3 because it doesn't know that there is a route through the same remote node Router 1 (via gateway Router 2). The static routes are for you to tell the Router about the networks beyond the remote nodes.
