Logical Configuration A.2 204 PCI Hot Plug Overview The PCI Hot Plug (PCI HP) specification defines the requirements for adapter cards, system platforms, and system software to enable the insertion and removal of PCI adapter cards without turning off the platform or rebooting the operating system. The process may include stopping a portion of the software or controlling the power cycle of a portion of the hardware such as, in this case, a PCI slot.
