SEWING BASICS Changing the tension of the upper thread To decrease the thread tension, press (-). To e increase the thread tension, press (+). CONTENTS The tension of the upper thread can be changed using the operation panel LCD and keys. Turn on the sewing machine. a X The LCD comes on. Select a stitch. b X A screen containing settings for the selected stitch appears. X The tension of the upper thread is changed. • If the setting is changed, the highlighting on the setting is erased. • Now you can begin sewing. Sew trial stitches to check the thread tension, and then change the setting if necessary. Press (OK key). f X The initial stitch screen appears again. GETTING READY SEWING BASICS UTILITY STITCHES • For details on selecting a stitch, refer to "Selecting stitching" (page 66). • Immediately after the stitch is selected, the standard settings (highlighted) appear. Press (Settings key) in the operation panel. c X The settings screen appears. Check that is selected, and then press d (OK key). Memo z To reset the thread tension to its standard setting, select the highlighted setting. z The thread tension can be adjusted using a more simple procedure. Changing the tension of the
upper thread
The tension of the upper thread can be changed using
the operation panel LCD and keys.
a
Turn on the sewing machine.
The LCD comes on.

Select a stitch.
A screen containing settings for the selected
stitch appears.
• For details on selecting a stitch, refer to
"Selecting stitching" (page 66).
• Immediately after the stitch is selected, the
standard settings (highlighted) appear.

Press
(Settings key) in the operation panel.
The settings screen appears.

Check that
is selected, and then press
(OK key).
The screen for changing the thread tension
appears.

To decrease the thread tension, press
(-). To
increase the thread tension, press
(+).
The tension of the upper thread is changed.
• If the setting is changed, the highlighting on
the setting is erased.
Now you can begin sewing. Sew trial stitches
to check the thread tension, and then change
the setting if necessary.

Press
