Face detection Face Detection and Auto Focus can be used in shooting mode to automatically focus on a subject's face and optimize exposure. When Smile Detection is enabled, the camera will automatically take the picture when the subject smiles. 1. In Shooting mode, Touch the button at the bottom right of the screen until the EV face detection icon appears. 2. Press to select from three options: • Face Detection: Off • Face Detection: On • Face Detection: Smile Detection. 3. Touch to confirm. 4. When Face Detection is enabled, hold the camera steady and point at the subject's face for detection. After the camera has detected the subject's face, a box will appear around the face on the screen. Press the shutter button halfway and completely depress after auto focusing to take the picture. 5. When Smile Detection is enabled, depress the shutter button halfway to auto focus. Completely depress the shutter. When a smile has been detected, the shutter will automically release until the memory card is filled or any key is pressed. For best result, the face of the subject should fill up a larger portion of the LCD screen and be facing the camera as much as possible. 37
