The receptacles of the AC power cables used to provide power to the chassis must be the grounding type, and the grounding conductors should connect to protective earth ground at the service equipment. For a Cisco MDS 9509 Director with a DC power supply, a grounding cable must be connected to the terminal block. For a Cisco MDS 9506 Director with a DC power supply, the chassis ground is required.
