Why does my HP Media Vault Shut Down by Itself? The HP Media Vault has a temperature sensor and if the sensor records a temperature of 57o C, the unit will shut down. Check that the unit has unobstructed airflow, and that the unit is not in an small enclosed. Turn the unit on and listen for a fan, if you do not hear a fan or the unit continues to shut down, contact HP support.
