Why does my HP Media Vault Shut Down by Itself? The HP Media Vault has a temperature sensor and if the sensor records a temperature of 57o C, the unit will shut down. Check that the unit has unobstructed airflow, and that the unit is not in an small enclosed. Turn the unit on and listen for a fan, if you do not hear a fan or the unit continues to shut down, contact HP support. Computer Recovery (this option is only available on the HP Media Vault Pro) To help you recover your computer and data in the event of a hard drive failure, the HP Media Vault includes a Drive Backup application. A drive backup must be accomplished prior to a hard drive failure for a Computer Recovery to be successful. Use this disc to restore your computer from the HP Media Vault in the event of the following: • To restore the system drive. • When the operating system will not start (boot). • If you cannot use System Restore to restore the system files. Important: To ensure that you have the latest version of the PC Restore Disc, contact HP support at http://www.hp.com/support. To recover your computer 1 Insert the PC Restore Disc into a CD/DVD drive in the computer you want to restore. 2 Restart the computer, and boot from the CD. 3 Follow the instructions in the Restore application. Router You must configure your router to access your Photo Webshare from outside the home network and to use remote access.
