5 Installation and Configuration Overview This chapter covers Steps C, D, E, F, G, and H of the installation procedure. You should already have completed Step A, "Plan Your Hardware," and Step B, "Plan Arrays and Logical Drives" in Chapter 4, "Planning." Step C. Prepare the Adapter In this step, you install the adapter into the HP Netserver. Step C covers: • Plugging in the Battery Backup Unit on the HP NetRAID-2M adapter CAUTION The adapter is sensitive to static electricity and can easily be damaged by improper handling. Using a grounding strap is recommended. Read the following information carefully before you handle the accessory: • Leave the adapter in the antistatic bag until you are ready to install it. • If possible, use an antistatic wrist strap and grounding mat. • Before you remove the adapter from the bag, touch a grounded, unpainted metal surface on the system to discharge static electricity. 39

Installation and Configuration
Overview
This chapter covers Steps C, D, E, F, G, and H of the installation procedure. You
should already have completed Step A, "Plan Your Hardware," and Step B, "Plan
Arrays and Logical Drives" in Chapter 4, "Planning."
Step C. Prepare the Adapter
In this step, you install the adapter into the HP Netserver. Step C covers:
Plugging in the Battery Backup Unit on the HP NetRAID-2M adapter
CAUTION
The adapter is sensitive to static electricity and can easily be
damaged by improper handling. Using a grounding strap is
recommended. Read the following information carefully
