Engine Oil Engine Oil Engine Oil NOTICE Engine oil is a major factor affecting engine performance and service life. NEVER use non-detergent and 2-stroke engine oils. • Be sure to use engine oils specified under "Engine Oil Recommendations." It is very important to maintain proper level of engine oil to keep engine in good running condition. • Check engine oil level prior to each use. Refill engine oil if oil level is low. Engine Oil Recommendations Use 4-stroke oil, or equivalent high detergent, premium quality motor oil certified to meet or exceed U.S. automobile manufacturer's requirements for API Performance Class SF or better. SAE 15W-40 is recommended for general, all-temperature use. 5. Remove the oil fill cap. FIGURE 18: Oil Fill Cap Removal (HW2000i Model) 6. Stop the generator if the engine is running. WARNING ALWAYS stop engine before removing the oil fill cap. Crankcase pressure can cause hot engine oil to spray out of engine fill hole. Hot engine oil can cause severe burns. 2. Place the generator on a flat, level surface. 3. Remove the back maintenance cover using the Phil- lips end of the universal screwdriver bit. 4. Using a clean cloth, wipe around the oil fill cap area to remove dirt and debris. FIGURE 19: Oil Fill Measurement To add engine oil: 7.
