CAUTION: When replacing the battery, use only IBM Part Number 33F8354 or an equivalent type battery recommended by the manufacturer. If the server has a module containing a lithium battery, replace it only with the same module type made by the same manufacturer. The battery contains lithium and can explode if not properly used, handled, or disposed of. Do not: v Throw or immerse into water v Heat to more than 100°C (212°F) v Repair or disassemble Dispose of the battery as required by local ordinances or regulations. Do the following to replace the battery: 1. Read "Before you begin" on page 40, and follow any special handling and installation instructions supplied with the replacement battery. 2. Turn off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect all external cables and power cords; then, remove the server cover. 3. Remove the battery: a. Use one finger to press the top of the battery clip away from the battery until the battery releases upward from the socket. b. Lift and remove the battery from the battery socket. 4. Do the following to insert the new battery: a. Tilt the battery so that you can insert it into the socket under the battery clip. b. As you slide it under the battery clip, press the battery down into the socket. 5. Reinstall the server cover and connect the cables. 6. Turn on the server. 7.
