Troubleshooting Problem Cause/Solution A Battery temperature is high. Turn off camera, and allow Monitor is turned battery to cool down before resuming use. Camera temperature rises. When functions such as movie recording are used for a long time, or when the camera is used in a location with a high ambient temperature, the camera temperature may rise. This 158 is not a malfunction. Electronically Controlled Cameras In extremely rare instances, unusual characters may appear on the monitor and the camera may stop functioning. In most cases, this phenomenon is caused by a strong external static charge. Turn the camera off, remove and replace the battery, then turn the camera on again. Note that disconnecting the power source as described above may result in the loss of any data not recorded on the internal memory or memory card at the time the problem occurred. Data already recorded is not affected. In the event of continued malfunction, contact your retailer or Nikon-authorized service representative. Shooting Problem Cannot set to shooting mode No picture taken when shutterrelease button is pressed. Camera cannot focus. Cause/Solution A Disconnect the HDMI cable or USB cable. 171, 174, 180 • When camera is in playback mode, press the c or shutter-release button. • When menus are displayed, press the d button. • Battery is exhausted. • When the scene mode is e (Night portrait) or HDR in o (Backlighting) is Off, raise the flash. • When flash indicator blinks, flash is charging. • Subject is too close to the camera.
