Other Information Troubleshooting Most problems you encounter with your TV can be corrected by consulting the following troubleshooting list. N Problems TV won't turn on • Make sure the TV is plugged in. • Press either the TV button or the ON/OFF button (while the remote is in TV mode) to connect the TV to the power source. • Check the wall receptacle (or extension cord) to make sure it is "live" by plugging in something else. • Something might be wrong with your remote control. Press the POWER button on the front of the TV. If the TV turns on, check the remote control. Go to page 40 for more remote control solutions. • The Front Panel may be locked. Go to page 29 for more information. Buttons don't work • If you're using the remote control, press the TV button first to make sure the remote is in TV mode. • The front panel controls may be locked (disabled). Use the remote control to unlock the front panel controls by selecting the Front Button Lock in the Parental Controls menu and choosing unlock (enable). • Unplug the TV for five minutes and then plug it back in. Turn the TV on and try again. TV turns off unexpectedly • Sleep Timer might have been activated. Go to page 36 for instructions. • Turn Off-Timer might have been activated. Go to page 37 for instructions. • KidPass might have been set. Go to page 28 for instructions. • Electronic protection circuit may have been activated because of a power surge. If this happens frequently, the voltage in your house may be abnormally high or low. TV turns on unexpectedly • Wake-Up Timer might have been set. Go to page 36 for instructions. Blank screen • You may be on an inactive channel. Try another channel. • Make sure you have connected devices to the TV correctly and they are turned on. • If you've connected another device (such as a camcorder or DVD player) make sure you select the Video Input Channel that is used for that device. Use the INPUT button to toggle through the available Video Input Channels. Unusual sound quality • Check if SAP is turned on. Go to page 31 for instructions. • Check Audio Output in Adv. (Advanced) Settings. Go to page 31 for instructions. • Check that the audio is set to your language. Go to page 32 for instructions. Digital tuning delayed • You may experience a delay of several seconds before digital pictures appear, both when you first turn on the digital signals and when you change channels. This is normal. No sound, picture okay • Maybe the sound is muted. Try pressing the volume up button to restore sound. • If using S-Video or Y, Pb, Pr, remember to also connect the device's left and right audio output jacks to the TV's AUDIO input jacks. • Maybe the speakers are turned off in the Sound menu. Check the Int. Speakers (Internal Speakers) setting. Channel search finds few channels • The cable connected to the ANTENNA/CABLE ANALOG INPUT and/or ANTENNA/CABLE DIGITAL INPUT might he loose. • Your off-air antenna might be getting a weak signal. Move it higher or get a bigger antenna. • Check settings in the Channel Search menu, and retry the channel search. Chapter 4 39
