When you pick up the rifle, always check that it's unloaded by opening the bolt. Keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction, even when the rifle is not loaded. All firearms, loaded or unloaded, should be treated with extreme caution. Keep in mind that most accidents happen when owners handle a firearm that they thought was unloaded. WARNING! Don't shoot unless you are absolutely sure of your target and what's beyond it. Remember that a rifle bullet has a range of over 8 kilometers (5 miles), and can kill or injure anything it hits within that distance. IDENTIFICATION (FIG. 1) You will find the model and serial number of the rifle stamped on the side of the receiver, while the caliber is shown on the barrel. CAUTION! Make sure you have ammunition of the correct caliber for your rifle. Use only high quality, factory manufactured ammunition. STORAGE Always store your gun in a secure, dry place, where it will not be damaged and where children and unauthorized persons cannot gain access to it. Keep cartridges separately in a secure place. GENERAL INFORMATION When we designed this new model Tikka rifle, we utilized the most modern manufacturing techniques and materials. All Tikka hunting model rifles come equipped with a standard 3- or 4-round detachable magazine (depending on caliber). Therefore, your Tikka's capacity is four (five) rounds - three (four) in the magazine, one in the chamber. You can also purchase a 5-round (6round) detachable magazine, which we sell as an accessory (In Varmint and Tactical models as standard in certain countries). All Tikka barrels are freefloating. Single set triggers are available in all models. MAINTENANCE BEFORE USE - Wipe the oil from the barrel by pushing a dry patch through it, starting from the breech end. - Clean extra oil from the bolt and breech area in the action. - Check that the recessed bolt space and locking lugs (marked A) are clean. Make sure however that all areas (A - C) are lightly lubricated. - Check that the sights are clean and free of debris. - Check the tightness of fastening screws 1 and 2. - Check the fit between the stock and free floating barrel. A slip of paper roughly 0.5mm thick should move easily between barrel and stock over the whole length of the barrel. - Insert the bolt into receiver. - The bolt is released from the rifle by pulling the bolt backwards and simultaneously pressing the bolt release button.

HANDLING THE RIFLE
