s Using the Complex Polygon tool ( ) Polygons of any shape can have holes of any shape specified in the area. Figure 87 To add a polygon with holes in it to the design: 1 Click the Complex Polygon tool ( ) in the Shapes toolbar. The pointer changes to large crosshairs ( ) when it is moved into the design area. 2 Click in the design area, as if tracing the shape, to specify the punchpoints of the polygon outline. A message appears in the status bar, prompting the user to punch the hole. 4 Click within the polygon outline, as if tracing the shape, to specify the punchpoints of the hole outline. NOTE: When creating a hole, do not allow punchpoints to overlap or cross. If this happens, the fill will not appear, but there will be a trim marker. 5 Right-click once to close the hole. 6 Repeat steps 4 and 5 until all desired hole outlines are specified. NOTE: Holes can be cut from polygons after they have been filled. For more information, see chapter 21. 7 Right-click a second time to fill the polygon. 50
