Troubleshooting FCoE Issues
Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) provides a method of transporting Fibre Channel traffic over a
physical Ethernet connection. FCoE requires that the underlying Ethernet be full duplex and provides
lossless behavior for Fibre Channel traffic.
This chapter describes how to identify and resolve problems that can occur with FCoE in the Cisco
Nexus 5000 Series switch.

Possible Cause
An FCoE-attached server has no connectivity to FC, or FCoE-attached storage, and the
show interface
command for the virtual Fibre Channel interface mapped to this server's port reveals that the VFC
interface is down.
Solution
Verify the configuration using the
show running-config
command.
