If one channel will have more memory than the other, the larger amount should be assigned to channel A. ● In any mode, the maximum operational speed is determined by the slowest SODIMM in the system. Populating DIMM Sockets There are two SODIMM sockets on the system board, with one socket per channel. The sockets are labeled XMM1 and XMM3. The XMM1 socket operates in memory channel A. The XMM3 socket operates in memory channel B. DIMM Socket Locations When installing memory modules: ● If installing only one memory module, install it in XMM1. ● If installing 2 memory modules: ◦ 2 matching memory modules - install in XMM1 and XMM2. ◦ 2 non-matching memory modules - install in XMM1 and XMM2. Install the larger (GB) module in XMM1 and smaller (MB) module in XMM2.
