The strength of the signal is determined by the type of transceiver in use. The ports meet all required safety standards. For more information about these standards, see "Regulatory compliance" on page 36. The ports are capable of operating at 1, 2, 4, or 8 Gbps and are able to autonegotiate to the maximum link speed. Serial port specifications The serial port is located on the port side of the switch. The PowerConnect B-8000 uses an RJ45 connector for the serial port. An RJ45 to DB9 adaptor cable is also provided with the switch. NOTE To protect the serial port from damage, keep the cover on the port when not in use. Fabric latency
The PowerConnect B-8000 supports several types of interfaces.
Table 12
shows the latency for
different types of data flow.
Memory specifications
The PowerConnect B-8000 has three types of memory devices, boot flash, compact flash, and
main memory. The size of each is listed in the following table.
Fibre Channel port specifications
The Fibre Channel ports in the PowerConnect B-8000 are compatible with SWL and LWL SFP and
SFP+ (for 8 Gbps performance) transceivers. The strength of the signal is determined by the type of
transceiver in use.
The ports meet all required safety standards. For more information about these standards, see
“Regulatory compliance”
on page 36.
The ports are capable of operating at 1, 2, 4, or 8 Gbps and are able to autonegotiate to the
maximum link speed.
Serial port specifications
The serial port is located on the port side of the switch. The PowerConnect B-8000 uses an RJ45
connector for the serial port. An RJ45 to DB9 adaptor cable is also provided with the switch
.
NOTE
To protect the serial port from damage, keep the cover on the port when not in use.
