Configuration Task List for File Transfer Services The configuration tasks for file transfer services are: • Enable FTP Server (mandatory) • Configure FTP Server Parameters (optional) • Configure FTP Client Parameters (optional) Enabling the FTP Server To enable the system as an FTP server, use the following command. To view FTP configuration, use the show running-config ftp command in EXEC privilege mode. • Enable FTP on the system. CONFIGURATION mode ftp-server enable Example of Viewing FTP Configuration DellEMC#show running ftp ! ftp-server enable ftp-server username nairobi password 0 zanzibar DellEMC# Configuring FTP Server Parameters After you enable the FTP server on the system, you can configure different parameters. To specify the system logging settings, use the following commands. • Specify the directory for users using FTP to reach the system. CONFIGURATION mode ftp-server topdir dir The default is the internal flash directory. • Specify a user name for all FTP users and configure either a plain text or encrypted password. CONFIGURATION mode ftp-server username username password [encryption-type] password Configure the following optional and required parameters: - username: enter a text string. - encryption-type: enter 0 for plain text or 7 for encrypted text. - password: enter a text string. NOTE: You cannot use the change directory (cd) command until you have configured ftp-server topdir. To view the FTP configuration, use the show running-config ftp command in EXEC privilege mode. Enabling the FTP Server

To enable the system as an FTP server, use the following command.

To view FTP

conﬁguration,

show running-config ftp

command in EXEC privilege mode.

Enable FTP on the system.

FTP Server Parameters

After you enable the FTP server on the system, you can

conﬁgure

diﬀerent

parameters.

To specify the system logging settings, use the following commands.

•

Specify the directory for users using FTP to reach the system.

CONFIGURATION mode

ftp-server topdir

dir

The default is the internal

ﬂash

directory.

•

Specify a user name for all FTP users and

conﬁgure

either a plain text or encrypted password.

CONFIGURATION mode

ftp-server username

encryption-type

]

Conﬁgure

the following optional and required parameters:

: enter a text string.

encryption-type

: enter

for encrypted text.

NOTE:

You cannot use the
