As you install option cards, keep these guidelines in mind: Make sure you know whether the card you are installing is an ISA card or a PCI card, so you can install it in the correct type of slot. If you have an S-bit ISA card, you can install it in a 16-bit ISA slot, as long as it fits. Check the components on your card and the system board before deciding which slot to use. Make sure that no components are touching or obstructing other cards or cables. When you unpack the option card, do not touch the components on the circuit board or the gold-edged connectors. Place the card gently on top of its original packing material with the component side facing up. Keep the packing materials in case you remove it later. Adjust any switches or jumpers on the card, if necessary, before you install it. (See the option card instructions.)
