1 Release 6.2 Overview This chapter provides the following information: • Changes introduced in Release 6.2 • An overview of the Windows Server 2003 SP 2 Enterprise and Datacenter editions and supported configurations • Software requirements • Supported components • Troubleshooting common issues NOTE: For the latest release notes, see the http://docs.hp.com/en/windows.html website. What's New in Windows Solution 6.2? This release adds the following new features, enhancements, and defect fixes to the Windows Integrity solution: • Provides downgrade rights from Windows Server 2008 to Windows Server 2003 SP2 Datacenter Edition. The Windows Server 2008 Reinstall DVD kit now includes a Windows Server 2003 Reinstall DVD. • Updates to the Windows Server 2003 SP2 and Windows Server 2008 solution. - This release and future releases will not support the HP Integrity rx7620, rx8620, and Superdome sx1000platforms. These platforms must remain on the Windows Solution 6.1 or earlier release. • Support for the following Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters: - Emulex LPe1205-HP 8 Gigabit mezzanine FC HBA for the HP c-Class blade system (456972-B21) - QLogic QMH2562 8 Gigabit mezzanine FC HBA for the HP c-Class blade system (451871-B21) • Support for the following I/O network adapters: - HP Smart Array P700m mezzanine card for the HP c-Class blade system (451017-B21) • Enhancements to manageability software including: - WBEM Providers are now included in the Integrity Support Pack, and are installed by default. You can also install the Insight SNMP Agents from the Integrity Support Pack. When the WBEM Providers and the SNMP Agents are both installed in the system, the default data source used by System Management Homepage (SMH) is the WBEM Providers. - Support for Version Control Agent is now a 64-bit application. In prior releases is was 32-bit. • Enhancements to Integrity WBEM Providers including: - Support for IPv6 - Support for Fibre Channel HBA - Implementation of the HP Fan Physical Asset, HP Power Supply Physical Asset, and DMTF Platform Watchdog profiles - Support for SMH 3.0 - Support for the Common Information Model (CIM) v2.18.1 • Enhancements to System Management Home Page for 3.0 including: - New User Interface that is fully compliant with OneVoice2 - A new CLI tool, SMHConfig, which allows configuration of SMH from the command line What's New in Windows Solution 6.2? 9

What’s New in Windows Solution 6.2?

This release adds the following new features, enhancements, and defect fixes to the Windows

Integrity solution:

•

Provides downgrade rights from Windows Server 2008 to Windows Server 2003 SP2

Datacenter Edition. The Windows Server 2008 Reinstall DVD kit now includes a Windows

Server 2003 Reinstall DVD.

•

Updates to the Windows Server 2003 SP2 and Windows Server 2008 solution.

This release and future releases will not support the HP Integrity rx7620, rx8620, and

Superdome sx1000platforms. These platforms must remain on the Windows Solution

6.1 or earlier release.

•

Support for the following Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters:

Emulex LPe1205-HP 8 Gigabit mezzanine FC HBA for the HP c-Class blade system

(456972-B21)

—

QLogic QMH2562 8 Gigabit mezzanine FC HBA for the HP c-Class blade system

(451871-B21)

•

Support for the following I/O network adapters:

Enhancements to manageability software including:

WBEM Providers are now included in the Integrity Support Pack, and are installed by

default. You can also install the Insight SNMP Agents from the Integrity Support Pack.
