Chapter 3 Removing Components from the LH 3000/3000r Remove Covers and the System Board CAUTION Wear a wrist-strap and use a static-dissipating work surface connected to the chassis when handling components. Ensure the metal of the wrist strap contacts your skin. 1. Remove covers as follows. See the Installation Guide for your NetServer for more complete information. a. If your NetServer is in the pedestal orientation (LH 3000), follow these steps: 1. Unlock and remove the front bezel. 2. Remove the top cover and the right cover. b. If your NetServer is in the rack-mounted orientation (LH 3000r), follow these steps: 1. Extend the rack's anti-tip foot. 2. Unlock and remove the front bezel if necessary. 3. Remove the four screws that secure the front of the NetServer to the rack. 4. From the front of the rack, pull the NetServer forward to extend it on the rack rails. You will hear the locking device engage with a click. 5. Remove both the right cover and the bottom cover. 2. Open the blue retaining latches to release the system board, and remove the board from the chassis. See Figures 3-1 and 3-2. 3. Place the system board on an anti-static mat. You will not use this system board in the NetServer LH 6000/6000r. 12

Remove Covers and the System Board
CAUTION

connected to the chassis when handling components. Ensure

Remove covers as follows. See the
Installation Guide
for your NetServer
for more complete information.
a.
If your NetServer is in the pedestal orientation (LH 3000), follow these
steps:
1.
Unlock and remove the front bezel.
2.
Remove the top cover and the right cover.
b.
If your NetServer is in the rack-mounted orientation (LH 3000r), follow
these steps:
1.
Extend the rack’s anti-tip foot.
2.
Unlock and remove the front bezel if necessary.
3.
Remove the four screws that secure the front of the NetServer to the
rack.
4.
From the front of the rack, pull the NetServer forward to extend it
on the rack rails. You will hear the locking device engage with a
click.
5.
Remove both the right cover and the bottom cover.
