1 Setting Up the HP NetServer LXr Pro8 Before You Set Up Your HP NetServer Before you set up your HP NetServer: • Read the Rack Installation Road Map for this HP NetServer. The Road Map shows how to set up the entire rack system. It will alert you to issues you must consider before installing the HP NetServer itself. • Read this chapter. This chapter tells how to set up and configure the HP NetServer LXr Pro8. It tells you what to do, and in what order. For a trouble-free installation, read this chapter before even taking the HP NetServer out of its box. Setup Steps It is important that you follow the setup steps in the exact order shown below. Skip any steps that do not apply to you. 1. Unpack the contents of the shipping box. Do not remove the entire HP NetServer from the shipping box in one piece. Instead, detach the unit's satellite chassis from the base chassis and lift it out first. Then lift out the base chassis. Read Chapter 3 before attempting to do this. CAUTION The HP NetServer LXr Pro8 weighs approximately 160 pounds. Do not attempt to lift the HP NetServer by yourself, or to move the NetServer without first detaching the satellite chassis from the base chassis (Chapter 3). Failure to observe this warning could result in serious injury, or damage to the HP NetServer. 2. Verify the contents of the shipping box against the Contents Checklist included with your HP NetServer. If anything is missing or damaged, call your reseller. 1
