Cleaning the pickup roller 1 You can clean the pickup roller rather than replace it. Remove the pickup roller as described in steps 1 through 5 of Changing the pickup roller. 1 Dab a lint-free cloth in isopropyl alcohol, and scrub the roller. WARNING! 1 Alcohol is flammable.
