Using the Remote Control The remote control is designed to work with Media Center. You can use your remote control with Media Center to play CDs, DVDs, and videos, to view pictures, and to watch and record television programs. This remote control helps you navigate the Media Center windows on your computer just as a cable TV remote control navigates cable TV options or controls the playback of a movie in a VCR or DVD player. Remote control can: ■ Navigate and control all Media Center windows. ■ Control the video or live TV display. ■ Place the computer in and out of standby mode. Remote control cannot: ■ Navigate the Windows desktop or control other computer programs outside of Media Center. ■ Be used as a VCR, DVD player, or stereo remote control. ■ Turn the computer on or off (shut down PC). ■ Turn a TV that is connected to your computer on or off.
