9 Battery replacement If the server no longer automatically displays the correct date and time, you may need to replace the battery that provides power to the real-time clock. WARNING! The computer contains an internal lithium manganese dioxide, a vanadium pentoxide, or an alkaline battery pack. A risk of fire and burns exists if the battery pack is not properly handled. To reduce the risk of personal injury: ● Do not attempt to recharge the battery. ● Do not expose the battery to temperatures higher than 60° C (140° F). ● Do not disassemble, crush, puncture, short external contacts, or dispose of in fire or water. ● Replace only with the spare designated for this product. To remove the component: 1. Power down the server (see Powering down the server on page 16). 2. Remove all power. a. Disconnect each power cord from the power source. b. Disconnect each power cord from the server. 3. Do one of the following: ● Extend the server from the rack (see Extending the server from the rack on page 17). ● Remove the server from the rack (see Removing the server from the rack on page 17). 4. Remove the access panel (see Removing the access panel on page 18). 5. If installed, remove the secondary PCIe riser cage (see 3-slot PCI riser cage option on page 58). 6. Locate the battery, (see System board components on page 10). 111

Battery replacement
If the server no longer automatically displays the correct date and time, you may need to replace the battery
that provides power to the real-time clock.
WARNING!
The computer contains an internal lithium manganese dioxide, a vanadium pentoxide, or an
alkaline battery pack. A risk of fire and burns exists if the battery pack is not properly handled. To reduce the
risk of personal injury:
Do not attempt to recharge the battery.
Do not expose the battery to temperatures higher than 60° C (140° F).
Do not disassemble, crush, puncture, short external contacts, or dispose of in fire or water.
Replace only with the spare designated for this product.
To remove the component:
1.
Power down the server (see
Powering down the server

).
2.
Remove all power.
a.
Disconnect each power cord from the power source.
b.
Disconnect each power cord from the server.
3.
Do one of the following:
Extend the server from the rack (see

).
Remove the server from the rack (see

).
4.
Remove the access panel (see

).
5.
