SECTION 4-SAFETY INSPECTION/TROUBLESHOOTING Additional Troubleshooting Information for M61 Wheelchairs SYMPTOM Wheelchair slows or stops while driving and the Seat Function 1 indicator is lit. PROBABLE CAUSE Elevating seat is elevated. SOLUTIONS Return seat to its lowest position. Refer to Elevating the Seat on page 31. Checking Battery Charge Level The following "Do's" and "Don'ts" are provided for your convenience and safety. DO Read and understand this manual and any service information that accompanies a battery and charger before operating the wheelchair. Move the wheelchair to a work area before opening battery box or installing service batteries. Recharge as frequently as possible to maintain a high charge level and extend battery life. Follow recommendations in this manual when selecting a battery or charger. Fully charge new batteries before using. Use a carrying strap to remove, move or install a battery. Push battery clamps on the terminals. Spread clamps wider if necessary. Use ONLY a GEL charger for a GEL battery or "Sealed" battery.
