03 Connecting up Caution • If you choose to install the center speaker on top of the TV, be sure to secure it with putty, or by other suitable means, to reduce the risk of damage or injury resulting from the speaker falling from the TV in the event of external shocks such as earthquakes. • Make sure no exposed speaker wire is touching the rear panel, this may cause the receiver to turn off automatically. Speaker placement diagrams The following illustrations show 5.1 channel speaker setups. 3-D view of 5.1 channel speaker setup Overhead view of speaker setup Front left Center Front right Switching the speaker system Three speaker system settings are possible using the SPEAKERS button. • Use the SPEAKERS button on the front panel to select a speaker system setting.1 SOUND RETRIEVER VSB MODE SPEAKERS SIGNAL SELECT Press repeatedly to choose a speaker system option: • SP A - Sound is output from the speakers connected to the A speaker terminals (multichannel playback is possible). • SP B - Sound is output from the two speakers connected to speaker system B (only stereo playback is possible). • SP AB - Sound is output from speaker system A (no sound is output from the Center and the Surround speaker), the two speakers in speaker system B, and the subwoofer. Multichannel sources are downmixed for stereo output from speaker systems A and B.
