English Rewind Starter To help prolong the wear life of the starter rope, observe the following points: N Pull the starter rope only in the direction specified. N Do not pull the rope over the edge of the guide bushing. N Do not pull out the rope more than specified. N Do not allow the starter grip to snap back, guide it back into the housing slowly - see chapter on "Starting / Stopping the Engine." Have a damaged starter rope replaced by your dealer before it breaks completely. STIHL recommends that you have servicing and repair work carried out exclusively by an authorized STIHL servicing dealer. Storing the Machine If the machine is to remain out of use for approx. 3 months or more N Drain and clean the fuel tank in a well ventilated place N Dispose of fuel in accordance with the regulations and having regard for the environment N Run the engine until the carburetor is dry. This helps to prevent the carburetor diaphragms sticking together. N Remove, clean and inspect the cutting attachment. Treat metal cutting attachments with protective oil. N Thoroughly clean the machine N Store the machine in a dry and safe place, out of the reach of children and other unauthorized users Sharpening Metal Cutting Blades N Use a sharpening file (see "Special Accessories") to sharpen dull cutting attachments. In case of more serious wear or nicks: Resharpen with a grinder or have the work done by a dealer - STIHL recommends a STIHL servicing dealer. N Sharpen frequently, take away as little metal as possible - two or three strokes of the file are usually enough. 1 2 1 1 2 2 002BA042 KN FS 260 C, FS 360 C N Resharpen the teeth (1) uniformly - do not alter the contour of the parent blade (2) in any way. starter rope, observe the following

direction specified.

Do not pull the rope over the edge of
the guide bushing.

Do not pull out the rope more than
specified.
N
Do not allow the starter grip to snap
back, guide it back into the housing
slowly – see chapter on "Starting /
Stopping the Engine."
Have a damaged starter rope replaced
by your dealer before it breaks
completely. STIHL recommends that
you have servicing and repair work
